Barrow County Sheriff's Office added 3 new photos.

Five men are being held in the Barrow County Detention Center without bond for their role in a local methamphetamine laboratory. Catarino Lopez, Sergio Lopez, Arturo Lopez-Torres, Jhonnathan Ulivi Vergara, and Julio Moreno-Nieto were arrested on Wednesday, June 14. The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit received information from a credible source that liquid methamphetamine had been transported from Mexico to 1625 Sedgefield Trail in Bethlehem for the purpose of converting it to crystal meth. Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Investigators contacted the Drug Enforcement Administration Clandestine Laboratory Team who specialize in the safe dismantling of drug labs. At the execution of a search warrant, 19 one-gallon containers filled with liquid methamphetamine were located in a bedroom closet. This yielded approximately 45 pounds of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $1,000,000. At the residence, investigators also located 3 firearms, marijuana, cocaine, and over $250,000 in cash.

We have been advised by Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills that both fugitives who killed two correctional officers early this week have both been caught in Tennessee. We are advised no one else was harmed during their capture. They will be extradited to Georgia in the coming days. We would like to thank the countless citizens across the State who helped with information to bring these two fugitives to justice. Our thoughts and prayers will be with those Officers and their families during this difficult time. ... See MoreSee Less

SCAM ALERT

We have received several calls about a person calling residents of Barrow County and staing they missed jury duty and they will owe money. The person states they are a Sheriff's Deputy and they need a green dot card in order to clear the person from going to jail. They are very persistent and tell you if you leave the house a Deputy will stop you and take you to jail.

This is a SCAM. Trust us when we say we don't let anyone know ahead of time we are coming to arrest you.

Again this is a SCAM. Our advice is to hang the phone up and advise them you will be calling the real Sheriff's Office to report their activity.

***OPEN RANGE DAY***

A reminder that the Barrow County Sheriff's Office range will be open this Saturday June 3rd, 2017.

There will be a $10.00 charge per person to shoot. The monies collected are used to replace targets and upgrade our range. The Sheriff's Office will have instructors on sight to assist and make sure everyone stays safe while shooting.

We ask that the public bring their own firearms and ammunition to shoot. We will shoot pistols from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Rifles will be shot from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. We want our young people to learn how to safely shoot so anyone under the age of 18 needs to be accompanied by an adult to shoot so families are welcome.

The range is located at 1059 Briscoe Mill Road Bethlehem GA 30620. We hope to have a large crowd so come and enjoy the day with others who like to shoot and fellowship
