The US Department of Justice has released its 2011 Edward Byrne JAG Grant.  They have allotted $21,114 in available federal grant funding for the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office.  We have applied for the grant.  The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office will be using the grant funding to purchase 24 bullet resistant vests for patrol deputies who are currently utilizing vests that have expired.  With the remainder of the grant we will be purchasing six Tasers.  We will also be purchasing training cartridges, duty cartridges and holsters for the Tasers.  The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office welcomes comments from the public regarding this federal grant.  If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact Captain R.
