The Detention Division of the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office is tasked with the responsibility to provide a safe and secure environment for the inmates incarcerated within the facility, the Detention Center Officers and staff, as well as any visitors within the facility.

The Detention Division is staffed by a highly motivated and well-trained complement of 45 officers and staff. Members of the Detention Division are involved in numerous community and charitable events, including The Sheriff’s Motorcycle Poker Run and the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

The Detention Division currently has 4 certified law enforcement instructors on staff. The Officers of the Detention Division designed and implemented their own Detention Training Officer Program to assist newly hired employees entering the law enforcement profession. Members of the Detention Division routinely receive awards for most training hours earned annually.
