The Barrow County Sheriff's Office Civil Department is a branch of the Sheriff's Services Division, under the leadership of Major Todd Druse and Sergeant Darrel Smith.
A Sergeant supervises two Administrative Clerks and twelve Certified Deputies who share in the responsibilities of serving all civil judicial actions, to include Civil Summons, Protective Orders, Subpoenas, Garnishments, Writs of Eviction, Writs of Possession, Fi Fas, and Warrants. This civil team provides support and response to regular patrol assignments, traffic maintenance, funeral detail, and verification of sex-offender addresses.
The Civil department provides transportation of inmates throughout the county and state to and from other Georgia correctional facilities. Transport services are conducted for the Juvenile court by ensuring secure provisions for the juveniles who must attend court or be returned to the Youth Detention Center. The Civil Department is entrusted with the transportation of mental patients to State facilities, orders from probate court and designations from local hospitals provide the details for each specific transport.
The deputies of the Civil Department are responsible for enforcement of county ordinance violations which are reported by the citizens of Barrow County.
