V.I.P.E.R. stands for Violent Incident Process, Enforcement and Response. It is the Barrow County Sheriff's Office's answer to the ongoing threat Domestic Violence poses to our community. This highly specialized unit is comprised of deputies from all areas within the Sheriff's Office who are committed to ensuring that cases of Domestic Violence are properly documented, investigated, and prosecuted.
Members of the V.I.P.E.R. unit routinely engage in the training of other members of the Sheriff's Office in matters related to Domestic Violence law, tactical response to Domestic Violence scenes, specialized interviewing tactics, evidence collection, courtroom testimony, victim aftercare, and follow-up investigation. The unit also engages in field operations which includes T.P.O. service, Conditional Bond enforcement, service of Domestic Violence arrest warrants, and post-incident investigations.
