{"id":124,"date":"2016-09-28T13:50:39","date_gmt":"2016-09-28T13:50:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.barrowsheriff.com\/home\/?page_id=124"},"modified":"2022-11-21T09:12:30","modified_gmt":"2022-11-21T14:12:30","slug":"metal-recyclers-registration","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.barrowsheriff.com\/home\/enforcement-bureau\/criminal-investigations-division\/metal-recyclers-registration\/","title":{"rendered":"Metal Recyclers Registration"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Barrow County Sheriff&#8217;s Office<\/strong><br><strong>Secondary Metals Recyclers Registration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pursuant to O.C.G.A. \u00a7 10-1-360, secondary metals recyclers who purchase regulated metal property in any quantity must register with the appropriate sheriff\u2019s office(s) beginning July 1, 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>REGISTRATION PROCESS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Annually, the Office of Sheriff is required to register secondary metals recyclers doing business in the county, keep a record of each registration, and cause the registration information to be entered into a statewide data base searchable by all law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, the Criminal Investigations Division of the Barrow County Sheriff\u2019s Office is responsible for administering the Secondary Metals Recycling registration program. The registration forms are available on the Sheriff\u2019s Office website to print and complete prior to registering in person. The non-refundable registration fee is $100. The registration is valid for 12 months, and must be renewed annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WHO MUST REGISTER?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Businesses (Corporation or Partnership)<\/span><br>The recycler registering as a business must register with the sheriff in the county where the place of operation is maintained. If the recycler maintains a place of operation in more than one county, he\/she must register the business in each county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Individual (Sole Proprietor)<\/span><br>An individual must register in the county where he\/she resides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Non-resident of Georgia<\/span><br>A recycler who is not a resident of Georgia must register in the county where he\/she primarily engages or intends to operate as a secondary metals recycler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">WHAT TO BRING FOR REGISTRATION<\/span><br>\u2022 Completed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barrowsheriff.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/BCSO-Secondary-Metals-Recycler-Registration-Form-SOS2-11212022pdf.pdf\">registration application<\/a> (prior to signatures)<br>\u2022 Driver\u2019s license or state-issued identification<br>\u2022 For recyclers who are qualified aliens, secure and verifiable documentation must be attached to the application<br>\u2022 Copy of current state and local business licenses<br>\u2022 Cash, money order or check for the amount of $100.00 made out to the Barrow County Sheriff\u2019s Office.
