Once hired you will receive your paycheck bi-weekly. The pay scale adopted by the Barrow County Sheriff\u2019s Office allows your salary to progress based on your years of service and rank (pending yearly approval from the County Commission). You will also have great benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, healthcare, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Salary<\/strong>
As a Deputy Sheriff, you can start your career with us making $50,420.14 – $76,720.21 annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a Detention Officer, you can start your career with making $45,678.16 – $69,504.72 annually.  There is no prior experience needed to be hired as a Detention Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minimum Requirements <\/strong>
\u2022Must be at least 18 years of age
\u2022Must possess a High School Diploma or GED
\u2022Must possess a valid driver\u2019s license
\u2022Must be a U.S. Citizen
\u2022Honorable discharge if served in the military (if applicable)
\u2022Must be able to work any shift, weekends, and holidays
\u2022Must successfully complete a background investigation, polygraph exam, psychological exam, and medical screening<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Physical Requirements<\/strong>
Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate, though not constant, physical effort. While performing law enforcement work, must be able to defend one\u2019s self from assault and to restrain suspects of varying weights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
