Mission Statement:

The mission of the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post is to provide structured, professional development for young adults through comprehensive law enforcement training, leadership opportunities, and community engagement. This program is dedicated to cultivating integrity, discipline, and a strong sense of civic responsibility, while preparing participants for potential careers in public safety while still growing their skills in decision making in stressful situations in real world scenarios.

About Us

Comprised of 3 Advisors SGT Chase Boyd, Deputy Matt Cook, and Deputy Tanner Good. Law Enforcement Exploring is a program designed to help students (aged 14-20) who have an interest in a career with law enforcement to gain insight through a variety of training and instruction that offer hands-on career experience. Exploring promotes the growth and development of youth through participation in these trainings. During the meetings Explorers will have the opportunity to learn the basics of officer safety and investigation tactics, how to properly conduct traffic stops, learn the basics of both criminal law and procedure, and how to investigate a multitude of crimes.

Yearly our Explorers travel to Gatlinburg, TN to compete in the nationally recognized Winter Fest hosted by the Boy Scouts of America. While there, they compete with many other Explorer posts from around the country in many Law Enforcement related activities. In trips past, our Explorers have received multiple awards including 1st place in Active Shooter Response, 2nd place in Unknown Trouble, 3rd place in Crisis Negotiation, and 1st place in the team building Escape Room- Murder Mystery.
